Jenni rivera arrested? A month has passed since the demise of Jenni Rivera, and fresh information regarding her purported connection with a Mexican drug cartel is surfacing. Several platforms, including Univision, La Opinión, and the Mexican newspaper Reforma, report a new witness detailing Rivera’s association with the criminal group.
An ex-legal representative of the Beltrán Leyva cartel, which notorious drug lord “La Barbie” was once a member of, claims he hired artists to entertain at cartel gatherings. According to the lawyer, Rivera was among those ordered to perform. The liaison between the cartel and the artists, known as “El Charly,” arranged the contracts, the attorney informed Reforma.
The witness also alleges that Rivera had multiple instances of cocaine use and mentioned a time when “La Barbie” publicly embarrassed Rivera by kicking her as a joke. These accusations were made to Mexican officials in 2009, the same year Rivera was detained at the Mexico International Airport for bringing in $50,000 cash from Los Angeles, California.
Despite the allegations, Rivera firmly refuted any association with drug traffickers in a subsequent interview with ¡Hola! magazine. Rivera maintained that she was not always aware of who hired her for shows, and insisted that she did not want any troubles and would not jeopardize her safety, either in the US or in Mexico.
Univision reported that Rivera was not the only performer contracted by the witness. Other artists include the Tejano/Norteño band, Intocable, and the renowned Mexican musician, Ramón Ayala, also known as the “King of the Accordion.”
Rumors of Rivera’s relationship with drug traffickers emerged before her musical success when she was still married to Juan López, her second husband, who was convicted in 2007 for his part in drug trafficking.
Known as “La gran señora,” Rivera died tragically in a plane crash last month in Monterrey, Mexico, killing several members of her team. DEA spokesperson Lisa Webb Johnson clarified that there was no evidence linking Rivera’s death to a potential terrorist attack planned by a drug cartel. The investigation into Rivera’s death is ongoing.

Rivera, 43 and a mother to five children, was traveling on a 1969 Learjet 25 from Monterrey in Northern Mexico to central Toluca at 3 a.m. Sunday after a concert. The private aircraft lost communication with air traffic control around 10 minutes after departure, and the scattered debris was located hours later at El Tejote, Nuevo Leon State, as per ABC News.
Four members of her crew, including her publicist, makeup artist, and two pilots, were also on the flight. Partial remains, which may belong to Rivera, were found on Wednesday in the scattered wreckage, 300 feet from the point of impact, although confirmation through DNA analysis is still pending.

The cause of the crash remains unknown, although recent reports suggest that the 43-year-old plane experienced previous issues in 2005. A malfunction in the fuel system reportedly led to an issue with one of the plane’s wings during takeoff, but there were no injuries, as reported by Daily Mail.
